Creamy Garlic Pasta with Buttered Shrimp

In love with pasta? Well I am! Now I present to you another phenomenal pasta recipe that would turn your flavors up and be checking it out for yourself!

Creamy Garlic Pasta is the best for people who loves the strong flavor of garlic and as well for those who wishes to lower their blood cholesterol or for those who are hypertensive. It is also rich in calcium because of the creaminess that will be brought by milk. Moreover, the shrimp is rich in iodine.

So here it goes, try this nutritious rich recipe that the whole family will love!

Ingredients:

  • Pasta (200g)
  • McCormick Creamy Garlic Pasta mix
  • Fresh milk/Powdered milk (1 cup)
  • Shrimp (medium sized)
  • Butter
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Salt (optional)

Twisted Pasta and 1 cup of milk

Procedure:

  1. Cook your pasta, I used twisted pasta for a change but it could be either fettucini, linguine, macaroni or a simple pasta
    1. Boil the pasta with water, cooking oil and salt
    2. Remove from fire if half cooked and leave it for a while to be totally cooked.
    3. Drain if consistency is achieved
  2. Boil the shrimp with some salt until cooked, I used a large shrimp so I cut it into little pieces when it's done. Be sure to remove it's shell or coating or whatever it is called
  3. To make the buttered shrimp, saute garlic first with butter. Let the garlic to be partially burnt and then add the onions. Add shrimp until the flavor of the butter eases into the shrimp.
  4. After putting the shrimp and getting the desired flavor, add the milk and creamy garlic pasta mix.
  5. Let it simmer.
  6. Add salt if you want an additional flavor.
  7. Mix the cooked sauce with pasta and serve.
  8. Creamy Garlic Mix, cut shrimp, garlic and onions, butter
  9. Bon appetite!

I especially love the mixed butted shrimp with the whole pasta recipe, it gives an additional twist with the creamy garlic pasta original flavor. I would conclude that the garlic has a strong flavor in this recipe. Make sure you cook the pasta perfect because little details counts a lot for a great recipe!

Jor Nguan Crackers for the Filipinos

Thai Crackers

JOR NGUAN – Little Farm, this thing that looks like crackers is actually some rice crackers for Thailand. I dunno for you readers if you have ever encountered this kind of snack if you ever have gone to Thailand. But to give my review with these crackers I would say I give it TWO! Thumbs up!

Rice Crackers with Flossy Pork
For the guys out there that seems to be confused with what it taste really like in picture (because it looks like a chicharon or wheat crackers or something) it does taste sweet at the first bite but as it goes to the process of mastication (chewing) it gives a bit of salty flavor with the consistency of chicharon and rice crackers. It does taste new with the Filipinos’ taste buds but it actually gives you a whole lot of new perspective with rice crackers.

Jor Nguan
Moreover, it is a healthy snack, it may be described as rice crackers with flossy pork but I recommend this as an alternative snack for chicharon. It has the same consistency and whole lot of magic with the salt taste and a good partner with other meals!
I have decided to partner that Jor nguan crackers with sotanghon. With each taste it produces in your mouth you can just simple say that there is a perfect balance with the sweet & salty crackers with the taste of sotanghon. I strongly recommend this one if you plan on going to Thailand. Happy eating!

Garlic Bread Pizza with Egg

I crave for pizza! Well, that’s the first dish that came into my mind, to come up with my every own pizza! And maybe build a pizza parlor :D But what comes after pizza is the amount of carbohydrates and fats it stores in our arms, belly, legs, and just go figure. I’m not here to judge or take a wrong account for something but some pizza stores contains too much oil that you’d actually sip a soup of oil by just eating their pizzas! I’m just a concerned citizen that is very knowledgeable with diseases from too much saturated fat from cooking oils and preservatives. Well anyway, I still love eating their pizzas but it is also fun to take a break from these “ingredients” and eat pizza with no worries.
Then here comes my recipe! Simple, affordable! And healthier. Garlic bread pizza with egg! Probably this is good for egg lovers like me :D

Garlic Bread Pizza with egg

Ingredients:
  • Bread
  • Garlic powder/ Chopped Garlic
  • Low fat butter
  • Tomato ketchup
  • Chopped Scrambled eggs
  • Tomatoes
  • Onions
  • Sesame Oil (optional)
  • Cheese (optional)

Procedure:
  1. Pre heat oven at 120 ®C
  2. Make garlic breads
      1. Melt the butter and mix with chopped garlic or garlic powder (this depends on how much garlic                taste you want).
      2.  Spread the combined butter and garlic with the bread
      3. Put into oven until desired consistency is achieved
  3. After the garlic breads are done, spread the tomato ketchup on the bread
  4. Add chopped tomatoes, onions and scrambled eggs (when I made the scrambled eggs, I added 2-3 drops of sesame oil for flavour and some salt.)
  5. Add some cheese if you like but I preferred not to put some. If you added some cheese it is best to bring it back to the oven.
  6. Done! Bon appetite!

Eggs. onions, tomatoes

The best part of this recipe is because of the garlic, eggs, and tomatoes. Garlic is a very healthy ingredient which helps lower blood cholesterol and prevents hypertension. Eggs, on the other hand, are rich in protein (the white part) which helps in tissue repair, for example building muscles and healthier looking skin. Tomatoes as we all know is rich in lycopene and also Vitamin A. Vitamin A is an antioxidant which slows down aging because it fights free radicals (zzz), anyway when it says antioxidant it technically saves you from a LOT! of diseases.
There’s so much to say about nutrition but above all, I was convinced that this recipe is good for your body and tastes pretty good too!

YUM!

Stir-Fried Cabbage in Oyster Sauce

I am an idealistic vegetarian. Idealistic meaning ideally but not in reality. LOL. But still, I am trying my best to stick with my idealistic diet. As I was searching the internet for vegetarian recipes I came across with this "Stir fried Cabbage in oyster Sauce", it looks delicious and uncommon, so I got off my seat and tried it with my own version. So if you're a vegetarian whether Pesco vegetarian (fish is included in their diet) or Pollo-Vegetarians (includes poultry, such as chicken, turkey, and duck) or not a vegetarian you’ll surely love this recipe. I dunno for Lacto-Vegetarians (include dairy products into their diet of plant food) or Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarians (includes eggs and dairy products) if they are allowed to eat something with oyster sauce, but either ways this is awesome.

Stir fried Cabbage in Oyster Sauce

Ingredients:
  • Cabbage (cut in large pieces)
  • Oyster Sauce (3 tbsp. For medium or large cabbages)
  • Sesame Oil (3-7 drops)
  • Ginger (1/2 tsp.)
  • Onions
  • Garlic
  • Vegetable oil or any cooking oil
  • Fish Sauce

Oyster Sauce and Sesame Oil

Procedure:
  1. Rinse the cut cabbage, drain.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in frying pan then sauté cabbage with chopped garlic and onions.
  3. Stir fry cabbage until nearly done or depending on the consistency desired.
  4. Add drops of sesame oil for better taste
  5. Add oyster sauce followed by ginger and fish sauce.
  6. Mix well and serve. Bon appetite!

CARBONARA GIVEAWAY!

Make a whole new blogging experience! After enjoying my carbonara recipe, have a raffle entry for a chance to win a free load to smart/talk n text, globe/ TM or sun! Rafflle game is at the end of the recipe.

**************************************************************************************************

Cooking has been my way to relieve those boring jaw dropped, eye blank expressions which I would like to call “nga-nga” sessions. Throughout my wait for my license and opportunities, I have made my time quite productive in a way I have learned new things in life, and those new things are what I call food scorching. Haha.

The silence has fill me in, another “nga-nga” session devoured me unconsciously and finally, I have made a picture in my mind, an amazing picture of a sparkling white spaghetti filled with mushrooms, so tempting. So, I got on my feet, completed my ingredients, and surprisingly I have made Carbonara all by myself for the first time!

With yummy cheese sticks :D

The best part of this dish is that it has low fat content compared to the original recipe of carbonara which includes bacon. The usage of a whole milk is still saturated fat because of its origin to cows, if you would like to have an affordable, less fat recipe for this phenomenal food, try this!

Ingredients:
Spaghetti Pasta
McCormick Carbonara Mix ( 1 sachet is equals to 400g of pasta)
Powdered Milk / Low fat milk
Hotdogs (less fat and price compared to bacon)
Mushroom
Basil Leaves
Onions
Garlic

Procedure:
1. Cook the pasta according to manufacturers’ instructions
2. Sauté chopped garlic and onion, followed my cut hotdogs.
3. Add cut mushrooms after the hotdogs are well done.
4. Add 1 cup of milk for every sachet of carbonara mix, mix thoroughly, don’t worry if the carbonara mix won’t be dissolved with milk alone, it will all be liquid once added to the pasta and simmered.
5. Add the pasta to the sauté ingredients, followed by the carbonara mix with milk.
6. Mix evenly; Add basil leaves, let it simmer until it comes into boil.
7.  Be careful not to simmer too long, it tends to get dry.
8. Make your plate presentation and enjoy!

You will get that perfect taste of this recipe if it is not too dry and the pasta is perfectly cooked. Bon Appetite!

Did you enjoy this today’s recipe? Enjoy it better by having a chance to win a free load to smart/talk n text, globe/ TM or sun! Let’s make your blogging experience off the hook!

Their Taquitos, My Taquitos

While taking a pleasant walk between sunset and dusk, my companion and I were lost with our little stories about our future. Today was a great day for us; we were both lucky for that day and thank God were both on the same mood. We haven’t got any idea where to go or where the fun is but as we walk at twilight we suddenly paused for a while and were delighted to be in front of the Kart City Banner. Off we go to Kart City.

Inside, we got no plans of drinking liquor or try out karting but we do have plans of treating ourselves with a mouth watering, satisfying, bright twinkling TAQUITOS! The Kart City’s Taquitos got me full thumbs up, except for the overflowing cheese which really emphasized the cheese as the main meat of the taquitos.

Kart City's Taquitos

Nevertheless, those delicious taquitos broke up with their plate, it then had a meaningful relationship with our stomach and came dancing with our peristalsis. The satisfaction and fulfilment with the cheese overloading taquitos gave me an idea of trying it on my kitchen.
Then here’s the result. The cheese sure did not destroy the flavours of the other ingredients and I would say that it is the best taquitos ever! Looking for proof? Try it out!

The flavor is better than the plating :D

Ingredients:
Taquitos
Ground Pork
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Red Onions
Cheese
Pepper
Salt
Sesame Oil

Procedure:

1. Sauté the ground pork with garlic and onions. If half cooked add salt and pepper to taste.
2. Add a little bit of chopped lettuce with the ground pork followed by 5 drops of sesame oil.
3. Continue sauté for 2 minutes then let it cool.
4. Chop the tomatoes and lettuce, slice the onions horizontally (make sure the length fits in to the taquitos) and grate the cheese, put into separate bowls
5. Line up the taquitos, put the sauté ground pork first into the taquitos, followed by onion, tomato, cheese, lettuce, then cheese. Onions must be few with each taquitos because of its strong flavour.
6. Estimate the amount of each ingredient to fit in the taquitos.
7. Make your plate presentation and you’re done!
BON APPETITE!

Playboy & Chocolate with Ferrero

Ferrero Rocher Bunny Edition

This little bunny here is a Ferrero Rocher chocolate from my aunt. It’s beautiful isn’t it? The shape of a bunny with a chocolate is really cute and creative, to think that bunnies are really cute in person. It tastes really good too, the sweetness of the chocolate and crisp of every bite brings heaven by your side, and just thinking about it is so much mouth watering! YUM... But come to think of it, I knew a little trivia about bunnies especially relating to the magazine of playboy.

Playboy logo

Ever wondered WHY PLAYBOY USES A BUNNY AS THEIR LOGO? Last May of 2012, I was reviewing for the nursing board exam and our instructor just added out of the blue with our clueless minds that bunnies are animals who have the highest libido. Unbelievable right? With all those cuddly fur ball and cutest eyes ever who would have thought that these animals have such drives?  After all, people do really believe in the impossible. Also according to the art editor of playboy “Bunnies or Rabbits have a humorous sexual connotation, and because he offered an image that was frisky and playful. I put him in a tuxedo to add the idea of sophistication.” (http://www.designboom.com/portrait/playboy.html)

Moreover, to top that thought, it is a tradition for everyone in the world during Valentine’s Day to give chocolate to their loved ones. This day is a day for lovers, a day to see the magic of love in every hearts of those who are in love. But...WHY CHOCOLATES? Why not fruits which are healthier than chocolates? Other guys would not know this but others do, and if they did, then they are secretly formulating a love potion for women! Chocolates stimulates the release of endorphins in the body therefore it promotes a feeling of pleasure; also it has tryptophan which stimulates the release of serotonin and therefore gives the feeling of happiness to the body. And to validate that noted sex therapist Dr. Ruth Westheimer says of this "wicked pleasure" that "the taste of chocolate is a sensual pleasure in itself, existing in the same world as sex." (http://www.medicalwellnessassociation.com/articles/chocolate_benefits.htm)

Then, here comes the ferrero. I wouldn’t know the real reason of the manufacturer for producing such as masterpiece (seriously, it’s good and cute) is it the playboy side or the chocolate-hormones-producing side? I think, every establishment desires to bring out the satisfaction and pleasure that each consumer wants.

August Ends

The last day of the month of August of 2012 has been a blast. While strutting along P.Burgos Street, Tarlac City, clattering around the passers-by and grooving with the wonderful climate of the mid-afternoon I found myself in the mood to just dawdle and appreciate the world behind its horror. Everybody knows what lies in P.Burgos, the Plaza, Municipal Hall, the road to F.Tanedo and finally the Cathedral Church. This Church has been history, back in the days when the Philippines was at war with the Spaniards and blah blah blah...The point is, this Church has helped me a lot with my anxieties, dilemmas or being stuck in a bad situation, like for the rest of the week in which I was really in a bad mood but the last day of August enlighten it all; I would have blogged why but then I will all have to kill you *just kidding*.
Well, in short I went in to the Church to pray and saw this:

Cathedral Church at P.Burgos St. Tarlac City (orchestra presentation)

It’s not every day that the Cathedral Church of Tarlac has an orchestra to play during a mass and neither any other churches. It just amazes me that I can see all these things in the right place and in the right timing (in which I came to visit the church that day). I was ecstatic, mesmerized and most of all thankful to have witnessed an orchestra for free! To see trumpets in action, French horns..horning! (I guess..), flutes whistling! And some others, I can’t really see them all not because I eyeglasses but because I am more focused on listening rather on seeing and I guess that’s my camera’s work.
The end of August has taught me that being in a dreadful situation isn’t bad at all. You know why? Because it is another way for God to comfort us. Imagine a life without problems,  we people are so hypocrites that we wouldn’t need God at all because we have nothing to ask, well it’s human nature. Have a happy September readers!
